DEVELOPMENTS / THANKS GIVING |
| For understanding and commitment between the US and Peruvian Vineyard movements. |
Historically there have been some difficulties in the relationship between the US and the Peruvian Vineyards and we seem to be involved in a process of reconciliation and renewed commitment between both parties. Please pray that this would come to fruition and that the relationship would prosper. Initial signs are promising, with renewed intent on both sides to make it work |
| Wisdom for Paul as he endeavours to pick his way through project info and begins to put together suggestions for a more efficient way forward. |
So far Paul's contributions have been warmly accepted. He has developed a new way of accounting for expenditure which more accurately reflects the reality and is beginning to make good headway with trying to help the sewing workshop become financially self-sustaining. He as been asked to fill the newly-created role of Production Manager in the short-term, while a permanent member of staff can be found. |
| Good friendships. |
We've experienced warm welcomes at church and are developing good relationships with Elizabeth and her family. We are also getting to know colleagues within Peru Children's Trust. We are also getting to know people within the wider (though small) Vineyard movement in Peru. |
Involvement with Huancayo Vineyard Church : For unity as leaders (Paul, Rach and Elizabeth (Peruvian)) For wisdom as we decide how to meet the needs of the group To know what to teach For friendship and trust within the group That those who come will have a personal encounter with God That those who come will feel loved and valued and keep coming. That we would learn to pray together as, at the moment, that is a new concept for most. |
So far we have been warmly welcomed and accepted. We are developing a relationship with Elizabeth and seem to be working well together. There is a sense of family (mainly because the majority of the church are a family!!) and our numbers seem to be edging up, though this might be the 'gringo' effect. We need wisdom in knowing how to respond to the need for leadership in the church and also the needs of those who come, which are varied and profound. The pastor from the largest Peruvian Vineyard, in Lima, will be coming up to Huancayo shortly to chat with us all about how to take this small group forward. |
| For ease of language acquisition (particularly for Paul), since Spanish remains key |
Pablo esta mejorando su español (it's getting better!!) |
That the houses in Chincha would be built! |
Building started Aug 18th for 6 families. They now all have a shell, but they are still not finished and many are upset with the way the process is (not) being managed and the number of mistakes being made. |
| That we would be able to organise visas for our return in February. |
We hope that our visas are progressing well, having left the paperwork in the hands of a Mr. Fix-It in Lima. At the end of the month, we should be able to collect the actual visas, though for this one of us will have to return to Lima.
Rachel's permission to work is another story and one that seems to be dragging its heels somewhat.

| For Vicky, the English teacher at the Training Centre who has expressed interest in reading the Bible . |
Vicky has now left Huancayo and moved to the jungle areas |
